Abstract
Citronella oil (Cymbopogon nardus L.) e-liquid formulation and analysis using GC-MS, as well as e-liquid repellent test against Aedes aegypti have been done. Citronella oil containing cytoronellol, cytoronellal and geraniol was used as additional e-liquid to slow down mosquitoes, as the smoke coming from e-liquid repel mosquitoes. The citronella oil concentrations made for e-liquid formulations consist of 0.25%, 2.5%, 5%, and 10%. Test results of the effectiveness of e-liquid for an hour of observation gained a value of 100% at 10% concentration. The GC-MS analysis resulted that the Citronella oil and the e-liquid have 3 compounds that could potentially be mosquito’s repellent. Activity test of e-liquid as repellent was conducted in 24 hours observation using a variety of 0.25%; 2.50%; 5% and 10% concentration. At the highest concentration, the percentage of the average mosquito death was only 33% with LC50 13% and LT50 in 62 minutes.
