This study aims to describe the increase in understanding of the PPKn concept through a cooperative model of talking stick type. and describe the application of the talking stick type cooperative model to improve students' understanding of the PPKn concept. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a research design using the Kemmis and Mc Taggart models conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementing, acting and observing, and reflecting. Participants in this study were 4-A grade students at SDN Baros Kencana CBM Sukabumi city in the 2018/2019 school year with a composition of 15 men and 25 women with a total of 40 students. Data collection techniques in this study used tests in the form of pretest and posttest. While non-test techniques in the form of observation, field notes and documentation. In the pre-cycle through the concept understanding indicator test shows the completeness of the students' understanding of the concept obtained from the percentage of success in the success of the KKM in the pre-cycle implementation of 28% is still in the category of lack and does not meet the success criteria. In the first cycle, completing the KKM success by 65% in general the ability to understand students' concepts in the sufficient category and still had not reached the predetermined success percentage. In cycle II classical completeness is 90% and has a very good category on students' concept understanding ability. Thus, it can be concluded that students' understanding of concepts increases through the cooperative type of talking stick type.
