Abstract

Presence is an important activity for the activities of educational institutions, work and others that require punctuality to measure the level of discipline, but to regulate it all requires a good system so that undesirable things such as absence are left. The absenteeism reflects a form of undisciplined student and can be detrimental to students themselves because they do not attend class. This happens because there is no system that works well to measure the level of discipline because there are still many presence that uses manual methods that use paper as a medium, this method is very risky because the paper media could be left behind, damaged, or even lost. This research discusses how to authenticate users for presence services with the use of Android as the basis of the presence application so that it is easier to use and develop due to its open source nature. Wireless Local Area Network Authentication is a way to monitor connected users and can determine whether the user has the right to continue attendance activities or not. Presence application with Wireless Local Area Network authentication is expected to reduce the act of cheating on absenteeism because students who will attend the presence must be present in the designated place especially the presence of a time limit that causes students to be absent when filling in presence activities more than the specified time which also resulting in reduced training incentive money.
