Abstract

The research aims to describe the implementation of science learning using the SETS approach and improve the science attitude of elementary school students. The research method used in this study was a class action research which was carried out on the Kemmis and Taggart models carried out with 2 cycles. The subjects of this study were grade IV students precisely at SDN Cimanggah 2 in Sukabumi City with a research focus of 39 students. Data collection techniques used were observation sheets for implementation of teacher and student activities, observation sheets and student science attitude questionnaires. Data processing techniques that are carried out are using quantitative data processing and qualitative data. The results of this study indicate that the implementation of the SETS approach with the data through teacher observation in the first cycle which obtained 69 scores and in the second cycle obtained a value of 79. While the implementation of the SETS approach by students through observation in the first cycle obtained a value of 68 and the second cycle scored 77. The improvement of students science attitude by using the SETS approach is based on the results of observations in the first cycle, namely obtaining a percentage of success of 65% while in the second cycle 76%. While the results of the questionnaire in the pre cycle is equal to 49%, then in the first cycle the percentage of success increases to 65% and in the second cycle is 76%. Based on the results of the research that has been done, it can be concluded that the SETS approach can improve the science attitude of students in elementary schools.
