Abstract

This study aims to improve the understanding of the IPS concept in Class V SDN 1 Cisaat with the implementation of Role Playing. This type of research uses classroom action research (CAR). From the research data showed the average class towards increasing understanding of the concept of social studies learning students pre-cycle around 46.92 with students reaching KKM only 20.83%. After conducting research using the role playing learning method, the average increase in understanding of students' social studies learning concepts has increased. In the first cycle, the average increase in understanding of students' social studies learning concepts was 72.37 and students who achieved KKM were 62.5%. While in cycle II the average increase in understanding of students' social studies learning concepts increased to 85.65 and students who achieved KKM also increased, namely to 87.5%. These results indicate an increase from the first cycle to the second cycle. Based on the results obtained, it can be concluded that the role playing learning method is proven to improve the conceptual understanding of fifth grade students of SDN 1 Cisaat in material social studies subjects Types of economic enterprises and economic activities.
