Abstract

This study aims to describe the increase in students' critical thinking abilities through the Group Investigation (GI) model in high school elementary schools. The method used is the classroom action research (CAR) design model Kemmis & Mc. Taggart. The participants in this study were 30 grade 5.1 students at Pakujajar CBM Elementary School in Sukabumi City 2018-2019. Instruments for collecting data used in this study consisted of interviews, observation sheets, tests, field notes and documentation consisting of 2 cycles. The results of the pre-cycle research on students' critical thinking skills gained 17% classical completeness. In the first cycle showed an increase in critical thinking skills gained 40% classical completeness. In the second cycle showed an increase in critical thinking skills obtained 83% classical completeness. The implementation of the Group Investigation (GI) model was carried out very well. This can be seen in the average results of the actions carried out by the teacher who obtained 74 successes in the first cycle and the students gained success 68.27. Whereas in the second cycle by the teacher who gained success 87.5 and the students gained success 84.14. Based on the results obtained it can be concluded that through the Group Investigation (GI) model can improve students' critical thinking skills.
