Abstract

This study is based on the low of student’s understanding concepts in science learning in class V of SDN Babakan Sirna. To overcome this problem, the researcher conduct a research on the implementation of a learning cycle model to improve student’s understanding science conceptss in science learning. This study aims to describe the implementation of learning cycle model and student’s understanding science conceptss in science learning about the water cycle in class V of Elementary School. This study is classroom action research (CAR) with the Kemmis and taggar research model which concists of the stages of planning, acting and observing, and reflection. The type of research is quantitative descriptive. The instruments used in this study is interview sheet, observation sheets, field notes, understanding of concepts test, and documentation. The result of the study showed an increase in both the application of the model and the student’s understanding science conceptss. The result of study through observation of teacher activities in first cycle obtained an average value of 69 increasing in second cycle to 78 in the good category. While students activites obtained an average score of 52 and increase to 72 in the good category. The result of the increase in classical completeness from first cycle to second cycle. In first cycle, classical completeness reached 48% and than increasing to 83% in second cycle. This shows that the learning cycle model increase student’s understanding science conceptss in science learning.
