Abstract

This study aims to describe the application of using role playing learning models and to develop democratic values in the high class. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with research design using a cycle model developed by Kemmis and McTaggart. The study was conducted in two cycles, each cycle consisting of planning, implementing actions and observing and reflecting. Participants in this study were students of Class VB SD Aisyiyah, Sukabumi City consisting of 19 students, 10 male students and 9 female students. The instruments of data collection were carried out using interview guideline sheets, teacher and student activity observation sheets, democratic value observation sheets, questionnaire sheets, and field notes. The results of the study showed that the activity of the teacher in the first cycle obtained an average value of 71 with good categories and in the second cycle obtained an average value of 85 with excellent categories. So that the acquisition of this value has increased by 14. While the activity of students in the first cycle obtained an average value of 68 with good categories and in the second cycle obtained an average value of 81 with a very good category. So that the acquisition of these values has increased by as much as 13. The development of democratic values of students in a classical manner in the pre-cycle obtained an average percentage of 39% in the weak category. In the first cycle the development reached 68% with a strong category, then in the second cycle experienced growth reaching 84% with a very strong category. So that the increase that occurs from pre cycle to cycle I is 29% and from cycle I to cycle II has increased by 16%. Based on the results obtained it can be concluded, the Role Playing learning model can foster democratic values in the High Class.
