Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of the Example Non Example learning model to improve exposition writing skills and describe the improvement of exposition writing skills through the Example Non Example learning model for students in high school elementary school. The research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) with a research design using the Kemmis and Mc Taggart models which were carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of planning, implementing actions, observing, and reflecting. Participants in this research were 25th grade students of SDN Salabintana Wetan Sukabumi, consisting of 11 male students and 14 female students. Data collection techniques in this study were in the form of pretest and posttest. While the non-test technique is in the form of observation, field notes and documentation. The data analysis technique is quantitative descriptive. The results of the study on teacher activity cycle I were 77 good categories, and cycle 2 was 81 very good categories. Student activity in cycle 1 was 63 good categories, and cycle 2 was 77 good categories. In the pre cycle through the exposition writing skill indicator test, it showed completeness of 16%. Then increasing in the first cycle reached completeness by 52%. While the second cycle, the test results showed completeness reached 92%. The overall increase with the calculation of N-Gain scores obtained 0.46 medium category. This study concludes that exposition writing skills increase through the Example Non Example learning model for students in high school elementary school.
