Abstract
This study was aims to determine the differences mathematical concept understanding ability between student who learn with snowball throwing learning models and student who learn with conventional learning models, and to find out the improvement of students mathematical concept understanding abilities who use snowball throwing learning models. The benefits of this study are to provide information that students who use the snowball throwing learning model are better than students who use conventional learning models, and to provide information that students who use the snowball throwing learning model have an improvement in students mathematical concept understanding abilities. The method that was used in this study is a quasi-experimental method. The population that was used are students of class VIII MTs-Al-Musthofa. The sample of 60 people were taken by random sampling technique. The instrument for collecting data in the study was in the form of a mathematical concept comprehension ability test consisting of 5 item description questions. The results showed that: 1) the mathematical understanding ability of students who use the snowball throwing learning model is better than the conventional learning model. 2) There is an increase in the ability to understand mathematical concepts of students who use snowball throwing learning models.
