Abstract
High quality concrete is concrete that meets specific performance requirements that cannot always be achieved routinely by using only conventional materials and normal practices. Improvement of high quality beam bending can be done by using added material in the form of fiber, one of them with iron lathe waste. Iron lathe waste potential pollutes the environment very high, based on observations made by the waste produced very much. The existence of this phenomenon is carried out research to determine the effect of the use of iron lathe waste as an added material on high quality concrete. This test uses experimental methods in laboratories based on SNI and ASTM, this test includes flexural strength, press and porosity. The test results show the addition of variations in thickness of iron lathe waste on concrete flexural strength has increased from three variations made. Variations made with a thickness of 0.1-1 mm, 2-3 mm and 4-5 mm. Optimal flexural strength occurs in thickness variations 0.1-1 mm, while for optimum compressive strength occurs in 2-3 mm thickness variations. The porosity value shows the thickness at 0.1-1 mm and 2-3 mm decreases from normal concrete, different from the size of 4-5 mm the porosity value increases. This is due to the size of the large and spiral-shaped waste, so that it is hollow in the concrete.
