Abstract

The purpose of this research is to describe the application of the steps using Course Review Horay (CRH) learning model, increased student response, and the result of improving students' understanding of the matter of addition of fractions. The research method used is Classroom Action Research with cycle model developed by Kemmis and Taggart. The research was conducted in 2 cycles with data collection tools such as test result, observation sheet, and field note. Application of the steps of the Course Review Horay learning model consists of (1) Delivery of competence and giving of materials, (2) Group formation, (3) Box making, (4) Reading questions, (5) Group discussions, (6) Checking answers, (7) Celebrations and awards (8) Closing. There is an increase student responses from 71% to 80% with very good category. The results of the research in fisrt cycle shows an increase in concept comprehension with 65% completeness this means increasing 45% from petest with completeness 20%, then increasing in second cycle with 90% completeness of entire student. These findings are recommended to teachers to apply the Course Review Horay learning model in improving conceptual understanding at mathematics.
