Abstract

This research is based on the low speech skill of V-3 students in conveying the information they get during the learning process, due to the lack confidence. The implementation of this study is aimed to describe the application of the talking stick teaching model and describe the result of speaking skill. the type of research used is Classroom Action Research (PTK) with cycle model developed by kemmis and taggart. The study was conducted in two cycles complited with data collection in form of test and teacher observation sheet, as well as students and documentation. Participants in this study were v-3 class of 35 students consisting of 18 men and 17 women. Data collection tecniques in this study using activity and learners observation sheet and tests. Data of obtained from the observation sheet of teacher activity and students were analyzed descriptively quantitative, while the data obtained from the test results were analyzed qualitatively. The application of the speaking stick learning model consists of the (1) delivery of basic goals / compentencies, (2) group formation (3) provisionof subject matter, (4) games, (5) accreditation. The results of the research on pretest of learners get 11% classical complitenes (4 people), increase in cycle I get classical complitenes 43% (15 people) and in cycle II there is improvement which get classical complitenes 94% ( 33 people). The research concludes that in this research applying the talking stick learning model can improve the speaking skill of the student in the V-3 class at SDN SURYAKENCANA CBM SUKABUMI in the academic year 2017/2018.
