Abstract

The research is entitled “Aspek Makna Pada Lagu Samsmith Dalam Album In The Lonely Hour”. The research aims ti describe Aspect of meaning and Type of meaning in ten lyrics of Sam Smith’s song. The research method applied descriptive qualitative analysis with semantics approach. The relevan theory applied Pateda (2010), Leech (1981), Lyons (2006), Heasly (1985). Theory aspect of meaning according to Shipley (1962), Palmer (In fatimah 2013) and Pateda (2010),and the last theory kind of meaning according to Leech (1981). Based on research result, it is found aspect meaning of sense, aspect meaning of feeling which are sad feeling, worried feeling and annoyed feeling. Aspect meaning of tone, which are high tone and low tone, aspect meaning of attention which are implore, order and prove, and also it is found five types of meaning which are connotative meaning, stylistic meaning, affective meaning,reflective mening and thematic meaning.
