Abstract

This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between cognitive ability and student learning motivation with gender-based self-efficacy on water pollution experiments with research subjects of students of class X IPA School year 2017-2018 in SMA Negeri 4 Sukabumi. Data were obtained using an instrument of multiple choice questions to measure students' cognitive abilities, and questionnaires to measure student self-efficacy and motivation. The result shows that the result of posttest on female students is 59,16 while male student equal to 56,33, motivation questionnaire score for female student equal to 63,44 while for male student equal to 62,53, and self-efficacy questionnaire score in the female students the results obtained by 70.78 while the male students for 69.87. Based on these results then conducted a correlation test, which in which the three data must be tested prerequisite analysis that is by normality test and linearity test by using the help of SPSS 20.0 for windows application. In the normality and linierity test the female students and male students showed that both were normal and linear distributed. Furthermore, the calculation of correlation coefficient r1 and r2 by using pearson calculation, and perform the calculation of double correlation and the results obtained in female students of 0.641 and in male students of 0.659 with the interpretation level of correlation both are at a strong level, which means reject H0 and accept Ha, there is a relationship between cognitive abilities and student learning motivation with gender-based self-efficacy. Based on the results obtained the self-efficacy of female students with male students is not significantly different.
