Abstract

A flood is an event that recurs almost every year, but these problems have not been resolved and even tend to increase, both in frequency, breadth, depth, and duration. The more an area is developed, the open or empty land to absorb water will naturally decrease, of course, with the development causes the land surface to change shape. Population growth that is not matched by the provision of urban infrastructure and facilities has become irregular. Land use that is not orderly is what causes drainage problems in urban areas to become increasingly complex. This may also be caused by the low level of public awareness and still indifferent to the importance of solving problems faced by the city. Also, there is still no rooted awareness of laws, regulations, and applicable rules. This research was conducted on Jalan Raya Suryakencana, which is a shopping area. This area was hit by a flood which caused a puddle of up to 0.50 meters. Floods that often occur in this area can be caused by high rainfall, the condition of the drainage system that is not maintained. Therefore, this research was conducted to evaluate the condition of the drainage channels in the area around Jalan Suryakencana, whether it is adequate or not if it is viewed from the rainfall that has occurred in recent years. By knowing this, we can also know the follow-up on the flood problem on Jalan Suryakencana. Or technical improvements that can be made by the Government
